Gutters

Because we haven’t gotten water in our tank for a few weeks and the tank is now empty yet we have been getting a LOT of rain, Mark decided to put up rain gutters to collect rain off the roof. He spent a good portion of the morning purchasing the pieces in town and installing them on a section of the back of the house. He is also hoping to collect rain water at FATER so he is practicing on this house.

Unfortunately there was not enough today to really test it out…
The new AIM volunteer missionary, Melissa, invited us to join her for dinner and games tonight. Just as we were leaving, to go over there she called and said that she was feeling crummy but she had made 2 pizzas and wondered if we’d come over even if she didn’t eat. My gut reaction was to stay away in case she was contagious but then we decided that we should go over and check on her since she was alone. She was having waves of feeling crummy and after talking with her, we thought, in our very un-medical opinions, that she probably had picked up a parasite like worms or amoebas. Since her worker had made the pizzas, we decided we’d go ahead and eat with her and keep her company. To add to her frustration of not feeling well yet wanting to make a good first impression having us over, the power was off for most of the evening and she burned the cookies she had baked for dessert! Poor thing. I discovered that she is Rebekah’s age – 26. Hmmm. I was 26 when I first came to Africa and I can remember the frustrations of those first years. We prayed with her and hope we encouraged her some.
